Development Squad

D-Squad Roster

The Harpeth Bicycles Racing Team launched the D-Squad for the 2010 season to give new teammates a chance to develop riding skills with the team and ease their transition into racing. Expect to see these riders move up to full team status as we work our way into the 2010 season.

chuckbyrgeChuck Byrge – Harpeth Racing D-Squad
Chuck is relatively new to cycling, having participated in my first races in 2009. During the 2009 season, Chuck also participated in a number of century rides. His goal for 2010 is to gain more racing experience and take part in a number of centuries.
jonhaltermanJon Halterman – Harpeth Racing D-Squad
Jon began racing in ‘94 and then in ‘98 took 10 years off for marriage and having kids. He got back on the bike in 2008 and hopes to mix it up in a few races this year to see what fire is left in his 40 year old legs.
johnscottJohn Scott – Harpeth Racing D-Squad
After 25 years of couch riding, John got his first bike in 2007. He challenged himself to ride further and faster. Two years later and 50 pounds lighter he entered his first road race and learned he needed to go even faster. His 2010 goal is to test the racing waters and get faster.
johnwadeJohn Wade – Harpeth Racing D-Squad
John is a veteran racer who has transitioned into ultra and recreational riding. He still intends to race, but will also lead recreational rides as time allows. “Development for me is a learning of the sport in all aspects, from weight lifting, cross training, recreational racing, and riding. I started riding in the late 90’s, and raced during and after college.” (University of Virginia, Harpeth Bicycles).
Guy RobertsGuy Roberts – Harpeth Racing D-SquadI got into cycling in 2007 when I purchased my first road bike for $26. I was hooked and quickly put a couple thousand miles on that bike before upgrading. I started thinking about trying racing in 2009 and joined the D-Squad to learn more about it. I hope to try out my racing legs this year once I’ve completely healed from an IT injury that occurred last August.
Chuck CrouchChuck Crouch – Harpeth Racing D-Squad
I got into cycling about 4 years ago and participated in a couple of races in the first year or so of riding. However, a job change and move across country has limited my ability to race the past few years. So, I’m hoping to ease back into racing this year. My goals are to improve my fitness level and hopefully become competitive in the Cat 5 races.
